Referrals

What is a referral?

A referral is a serious enquiry for Home-Start support for a particular family; it results in a referral form being completed either by the referrer or a self-referral, by the family support organiser.

Who can make a referral?

Our main referrers are Health Visitors, but referrers may include family support workers, parent support advisors, children’s centres, playgroup workers, army welfare service or a family can refer themselves.

What happens next?

Once a referral form has been completed in agreement with the family it must be returned to the HSK Office. An acknowledgement is sent back to the referrer on receipt of the completed form. An organiser will arrange an initial visit with the family to find out what their difficulties are. A volunteer match will then be made. Once a volunteer match has been made, we will contact the referrer again with a status update.
